Summary/
Abstract
AngloGold Limited (AngloGold), with its headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa, was formed in 1998 through the consolidation of the African gold mines of Anglo American Plc. In 2000, AngloGold forayed into marketing of its gold products like jewellery, by starting its on-line portal, GoldAvenue. Throughout its short history, AngloGold's rapid growth has been characterised by mergers and acquisitions. With its announcement to merge with the Ghana-based Ashanti Goldfields Company Ltd in 2003, AngloGold is poised to become number one in the global gold mining industry.
