Summary/
Abstract
First Atlantic Bank (FAB) is a Nigerian commercial bank that successfully branded itself 'the big e'. From the onset, FAB incorporated the use of information technology (IT) as an integral part of their business strategy, investing in IT systems that would contribute to its competitive advantage. To achieve this, FAB acquired a global banking application system bundled with electronic channel initiatives to facilitate nationwide reach. In addition, FAB developed a person-to-person money transfer / payment system, flash-me-cash to facilitate the movement of relatively small amounts of money. Despite their technological successes, FAB is challenged by market acceptability. This case is used to introduce the concept of business models for e-business and the sustainability of electronic business initiatives
