Summary/
Abstract
The Ibeto Group is a Nigerian conglomerate engaged in a variety of businesses from manufacturing to hotel management. Prior to the engagement of the founder's first son, the operations of the Group were predominantly manual. In this case, we see a medium-sized Nigerian organisation seeking to transform itself from a manual organisation to an e-enterprise using enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. The case also illustrates the challenges small and medium enterprises in emerging economies encounter in the acquisition of information technology, the myths of ERP systems, and issues related to systems development.
