As part of the AABS initiatives for 2009 AABS is developing a study visit to investigate best practice at Business Schools in India, Singapore and China and to utilize the time for Deans, Directors and Senior Management of Business Schools to network and learn from each other.
This will be the third trip that the Association has run for Deans and Directors of Business Schools in Africa. The first two trips where to Business Schools in Europe and the USA. With the economic growth that is happening in Asia and also because Asian Business Schools are grappling with similar issues to many African Schools it makes sense that Asia should be the destination for the next AABS study visit.
Dates:
Tuesday 3 March 2009, Ahmadabad, India ending on Thursday 12 March 2009, Shanghai, China.
Cost:
The total cost per delegate is $4500.00 which includes travel, most meals and accommodation during the trip. Sundries such as the laundry, phone and internet costs, the occasional meal and drinks would be for the delegates account.
For AABS Members Schools AABS will contribute one third of this fee therefore the cost will be $3000 per person.
Non AABS Member Schools are welcome to attend the trip but will have to pay the full amount of $4500.
Arrangement of the necessary visas and travel from your home country to India and from Shanghai back to your own country will be for your own account.
Criteria for the study vista are as follows:
Candidates are required to:
- Be the dean / director of a Business School or Faculty of Business. The Dean is encouraged to bring one other senior person from their school on the trip with them. Therefore a maximum of two delegates per school is allowed. Substitution of the Dean may only be made at the level of Associate Dean / Head of unit for the MBA or equivalent. The substitute will need to have decision making powers on design and implementation of the MBA course or equivalent post-graduate degree.
- Commit to the full duration of the trip
- Organise their own travel to India and back home from China as well as their own visa’s and travel insurance.
- Pay a non-refundable deposit to cover non-refundable cancellation fees

- Please complete the online application form.
- Upon receipt of your application form further information will be sent to you with an invoice for the trip.
- Please note that the deadline for applications is the 14 November 2008.
- A deposit of $2 000 needs to be received by the 15 December 2008 in order to secure your place.
- The full amount needs to be received by the 31st January 2009.
