Summary:Registrations are now open for Research in the Practice of Management (RPM) 4. A workshop for faculty members who want to learn how to develop and write a PhD proposal and thesis or how to publish internationally (for established researchers).

Research and the Practice of Management  4 (RPM 4)

AABS in collaboration with Lagos Business School has scheduled a training course in PhD proposal and thesis writing and publishing in international journals. Research in the Practice of Management 4 (RPM 4) will be conducted at Lagos Business School, Nigeria from 16– to 18 May 2012.
 
Target audience:
The training course targets PhD students, academic staff planning to register for PhD studies or those who already have a PhD, but want to develop their skills further to support their interest and requirement to publish in journals.

Session Objectives:

  • Provide participants with a collaborative forum to enhance their research capabilities
  • Development and refinement of research ideas utilizing critiques and ideas from fellow participants and facilitators and opportunity to receive one-on-one feedback
  • Sharing of expertise and experience from facilitators who are skilled in research and who have published in high quality business and management journals
  • Establishment of a network of colleagues from various universities in African countries
  • Experience the energy, excitement and importance of conducting context relevant research in African contexts

Prior to the RPM Session

Participants should:

  • Submit a research proposal for a new idea or project in progress (by April 1st).  These submissions should be made available to other participants and facilitators prior to the workshop.  The proposals should have relevant literature and research question, proposed methods and data analytical techniques, etc.  Manuscripts in preparation can be submitted.
  • Read the pre-readings prior to the workshop. 
  • Submit revised proposal suggestions by May 1st.
  • Based on news reports (newspapers, internet news, etc.) develop a list of possible research topics that have business/management relevance
