4. Feedback from the Deans and Directors

a. "The Business schools study visit was a phenomenal experience. I was certainly exposed to the best business school practices in South Africa. The coordination was excellent, the business schools visited were the best in Africa and the presenters were world class. The group discussions, networking sessions and observation sessions were stimulating and certainly made me reflect on our current business school practices. Based on a number of lessons learnt from the visit, a strategic plan to implement new/improved teaching and learning practices is currently underway."

MANCOSA wishes to thanks the presenters and the host business schools for their altruistic approach.

b. "I consider the AABS South African Business Schools Study Visit extremely beneficial as was the case with previous study visits organized by AABS. Apart from the networking opportunities provided which was great, the visit was extremely useful especially in understanding the strategy of the schools and how the various functions within the respective schools support the strategy. One of the things that impressed me most was the high quality of non-faculty professionals in charge of the various functions in the respective schools. While this may be familiar, it was no less impressive and very enlightening especially for a number of participants who come from business schools that are very much part of the university and in which key roles are managed by academic staff.

At each school, a number of things were quite impressive. The presentation by Stellenbosch on the use of technology to support its learning activities was very useful. I also considered the structure whereby an independent corporation was responsible for and managed the executive education function very innovative. This of course lent further credence to the point of business schools being innovative in meeting their various objectives. At GIBS, the use of facilities and the creative ways in which the facilities had been expanded to accommodate increasing number of participants was also quite impressive. As always, the visits were great for networking and making contacts that could facilitate collaboration between institutions on several fronts."
Dr. Enase Okonedo, Dean, Lagos Business School, Pan-African University

c. "The study visit was highly revealing and rewarding. For me in particular, it gave me an opportunity to see the workings of Business Schools in South Africa. Each of the schools visited has sits unique selling points laced with innovative and dynamic academic programmes and resourceful Centres.

It is observed that the Schools are being guided by their vision and mission statements. The infrastructure, teaching, processes and human resources have been carefully programmed to optimize the leaning experience. It is important to note that the Schools are also conscious of their rankings, both within South Africa and the World in general. I believe this is propelling them to improve on their delivery Above all, I am delighted by the warmth and pleasant nature of AABS personnel, as a well as the African touches demonstrated by the hosting institutions while the visit lasted."
