Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC) 2010
Calling all profit-making ideas that have high social impact
GSVC is a business plan competition whose mission is to promote entrepreneurial businesses that satisfy two criteria:
· clear and measurable social objectives and impact
· financially sustainable, in the sense that they are profitable or self-supporting through revenue generation.
Teams representing your institution must have at least one person currently pursuing a full time MBA programme or an alumnus who has graduated in 2008 or 2009. Team size minimum 3, maximum 5. External social sector persons can also be part of the team.
The GSVC was initiated in 1999 and is a student-led initiative pioneered by the Haas School of Business. Other Partners are Columbia Business School, London Business School, Thammasat University, and the Indian School of Business (ISB).
The Indian School of Business, India has the responsibility of promoting the competition in business schools in India, Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, UAE and African countries; and holding the Regional Semifinal Round.
Teams selected for the Regional Finals at the ISB during March 5 – 7, 2010 will be given travel assistance (limited to USD 2,000 per team) and all local hospitality.
Important dates are:
1. November 30, 2009: Submission of executive summary (optional, only if team requires mentoring support)to ISB at gsvc@isb.edu
2. January 15, 2010: Submission of final plans to ISB at gsvc@isb.edu
3. January 24, 2010: Initial judging round at ISB by external panels
4. February 25, 2010: Submission of revised plans by short-listed teams to ISB
5. March 5 - 7, 2010: GSVC – Asia Semifinal presentation round at ISB
6. April 22 - 24, 2010:Global Finals at Haas, Berkeley
Note:
We would recommend that teams from your University register along with a five-page executive summary, latest by November 30, 2009 so that we can provide mentoring support.
Last date for submission of full business plan is January 15, 2010
