Summary/Abstract:

The case protagonist, Alfred Okoigun, left his comfortable well-paid job with an oil company to pursue a new business aimed at filling a gap that he noticed while in employment. In spite of the fears expressed by friends and relatives with whom he shared his plan of leaving his job, Alfred ventured out. The case narrates Alfred’s painful but rewarding experiences as he learns from, “the school of hard knocks”. Alfred’s ability to adapt his business strategy to changes in his environment, his high level of integrity and his humane leadership style contributed to helping survive tough periods through the years. The case portrays the benefit of maintaining high sense of integrity, even when the cost is high.
