Seven Seas Technologies (SST) Ltd. was founded by Michael Macharia in 1999 when he was only 24 years old. Since then, SST Group had grown steadily over the years - evolving from a humble infrastructure based company to a multi-billion shilling full ICT services company. Seven Seas Technologies was able to compete in fields traditionally dominated by transnational IT companies to become a major player in the Telecommunications, Financial, Real Estate and Government sectors. By 2011, SST became one of the most admired technology organizations in Kenya and in Sub-Saharan Africa. SST engaged more than 100 talented and highly certified professionals working in highly specialised technology divisions which collapsed into Technology Consulting, Project Management, Service Management and Training services. Besides Kenya, the company has branches in Uganda, Ethiopia and project offices in Rwanda. How had SST managed such a remarkable growth? And what challenges remained? How would an indigenous company make an aggressive expansion in the continent and create value for stakeholders without losing focus of its main character, brand and culture?
