AABS Accreditation Workshop – University of Stellenbosch Business School

 

 

This interactive workshop aims to provide schools interested in entering the AABS accreditation process with the tools needed to embark on the journey of quality assurance. It will explain how the AABS accreditation process works, discuss the standards thoroughly, help set real self-review report expectations, teach how to efficiently prepare for a successful accreditation team visit, and, finally, promote a culture of continuous improvement that is relevant, impactful, and sustainable.

The workshop fee is $380. (Please check the terms and conditions.)

Target 

The workshop is targeted at institutions considering applying for AccreSys accreditation and those wishing to get a better understanding of the system. It will allow for an in-depth preparation of the application phase. It is relevant for Deans and Directors, Associate Deans, Directors of major programmes, Directors of External Relations and Accreditation Officers.

AABS Research Excellence Workshop

Summary: The Research Excellence Workshop is a 3-day faculty development programme aimed at faculty who are registered or are planning to register for PhD or Doctoral studies; as well as faculty who aspire to publish papers and articles in accredited international journals. AABS REW will be hosted by UDBS, Dar es Salaam on Monday 12 – Wednesday 14 February.

AABS Case Writing & Teaching Workshop

Summary: Experienced, well-trained case writers bring to life real situations, which when brought into the classroom, create powerful management education tools.
Details: The overall objective of the workshop is to build capacity in academic faculty and case writers that will enable them to write and teach business management cases that will develop management and leadership competencies in the participants that are enrolled in programmes offered by the business schools. By the end of the workshop, the participants will have been exposed to, and will have had the opportunity to, practice case writing, case teaching and related pedagogical skills.

Postponed – AABS Research Excellence Workshop 2016

Summary : This 3-day-faculty development workshop targets Doctoral students and/or academic staff planning to register for Doctoral studies or those who are interested in publishing academic journals. The 2016 workshop takes into account the views of AABS constituents as expressed in our AABS Research Survey. AABS REW 2016 will be hosted by GIMPA, Accra, Ghana, from 17 – 19 October 2016. Online registration at www.aabschools.com closes on Friday 16 September.

Prework requirements

An imperative prerequisite is pre-work submission, as the programme design dictates interaction, work-shoping and learning by delegates. This is a non-negotiable requirement.

  • Research proposal or developed research idea with research questions, proposed methodology and anticipated outcomes
  • Annotated bibliography
  • Research paper or completed data collection on a study – with data ready for analysis
  • Datasets in analysable form, including a codebook (e.g. Excel spreadsheet)

Postponed – AABS Teaching the Practice of Management

Summary: AABS Teaching the Practice of Management is currently in its eleventh year and is a 5 day faculty training programme.

Details:

The AABS TPM 5-day-faculty development workshop programme is designed for faculty from Business Schools in Africa who are committed to incorporating discussion and practice based teaching into their curriculum. This approach enables delegates to develop judgment and problem solving skills by wrestling with management decision-making through the use of a variety of different practice based teaching methods including, but not limited to: case studies, role plays, debates, simulations and class discussions.

The overall objectives of the workshop are to provide faculty with tools, skills and learning opportunities to become more effective teachers of the practice of management. AABS TPM will incorporate blended learning including a variety of methods as well as action learning. Therefore there is an expectation on delegates to bring and share their knowledge and skills to resolve teaching dilemmas.

Details: Case Teaching and Writing Workshops are integrated and hands-on, focused on steering participants through a detailed case teaching and writing process, which includes; defining key skills associated with case writing and teaching, analysing the reasons for different types of cases, planning for a case & collecting information, assessing barriers and the actual case writing process, writing the teaching note and publishing options and how to publish a case.
