  • It started as a University College (UCD) affiliated with the University of London (with one faculty- of Law)
  • Hosted at TANU premises in Lumumba
  • Students: 12 Male and 1 Female
  • In 1963 it became a constituent college of the University of East Africa
  • UDSM became a full-fledged University through the University of Dar es Salaam Act, Cap 346, 1970
  • It was a Department of Business Administration in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS)
  • The Department of Business Administration was elevated to the Faculty of Commerce and Management (FCM)
  • The FCM was transformed into a Business School and the name UDBS was born

UDBS is among the leading Business Schools in Africa because of the huge investment made in infrastructure, staff and collaboration with other leading business schools and the industry.
